PROJECT PRESERVE
Maintaining and restoring a National treasure such as the Meeting House is an expensive proposition and one that is ongoing. Here's how you can help. If you join "Project Preserve", sponsored by The Chestnut Street Meeting House and Cemetery Association, for $70 (either in the form of monthly payments or one lump sum payment) due during the period of June 1 through April 15 in any given year, you will not only be supporting the preservation of the Meeting House but, will also, during the month of May of that year, be eligible to win a cash prize of $500, $300 or one of three $200 prizes or a$100 prize.
These cash prizes will be drawn at our tri-annual meeting next May and you will be personally invited to attend.
And remember......... as the Association is a non-profit organization, your donation is tax-deductible.
For more information about this important fund raiser, contact our Project Preserve Committee at the address listed below.
MEETING HOUSE NEEDS A NEW ROOF
The
red cedar
shingle roof
which is currently
on the Meeting House
is approaching 25 years
of age and needs to be re-
placed so that the restored
interior will not be damaged by
weather. Replacing a roof of this
type is a very expensive proposition.
A wooden roof costs about four times that
of an asphalt roof. Despite the significant cost,
the Association believes it is appropriate to install a
new wood shingle roof in order to maintain the architectural
integrity of the building.
